A very open first half, with Young Pumas pace down the right giving Andy and Mackenzie plenty of work early. Ethan and Luca both had long-range shots but didn’t trouble the keeper. The first big chance came when Lucas smashed a shot just wide, followed by another effort going off target. We thought we’d taken the lead when Luca McFadden’s shot clipped the post.

After a throw-in on the right, Elvis rolled the defender, beat three players, and passed to Adrian, whose ball found Lucas for a tap-in, but it was ruled offside. Elvis then beat his man on the left, and Clarence’s shot was blocked by the defender.

Adrian had an effort saved just before halftime, and Pumas best chance came from a free kick. The striker was 1v1 with Zac, who tipped it round the post for a corner.

We created more chances in the second half. Ethan played a ball in behind for Sean, but his shot was saved. We nearly got caught by a quick throw-in, but Shay defended well to force the ball out. Clarence had an effort deflected wide after good link-up play with Paul and Sean.

Elvis again turned his man from a throw-in, finding Lucas with a ball in behind, but Lucas could only hit the side netting. We went 1-0 down after being dispossessed at the edge of the box, and Pumas’ player smashed it into the top corner.

Max found himself 1v1 with the defender on the right but only a last gasp tackle stopped the pass finding Sean.

The most controversial moment came when a cross from Pumas was saved by Zac, with Lewis clearing the rebound. The goal was given despite the ball not crossing the line.
